Privacy Policy

Version 0.1, effective 27 October 2026

Great Southern Apps is operated by Great Southern Software Pty Ltd (ABN 11 700 174 787), an Australian company ("we", "us"). This policy explains what personal information we collect when you use Great Southern Apps, why, who we share it with, and the choices you have. We handle personal information under the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs) in the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth).

The short version: we collect what the service needs to build and run your apps, we never sell personal information, there is no advertising or tracking, and the code of every app you build is yours to take with you.

1. What we collect

  • Account details - your name and email address, when you sign in with Google or with an email address and password. Your Great Southern Software account is shared with our other products, such as Great Southern Websites, so you can use one sign-in for all of them.
  • What you ask for - the descriptions, answers, files and images you give us when you ask for an app or a change, and the plans, code, tests, screenshots and messages produced while it is built.
  • Your apps - each app's code (kept in git), its built images, its staging and prod databases, and the domains you connect to it.
  • Usage and costs - the AI and cloud resources each app uses, so we can show you what it costs and prepare your statements.
  • Technical logs - IP address, browser, timestamps and errors, generated when you use the service, kept to run it securely and fix faults.

We set one cookie, to keep you signed in. We use no analytics or advertising cookies. Your light or dark theme choice is kept in your own browser.

2. How we use it

To provide the service: signing you in, building, previewing and publishing your apps, showing their costs, keeping the service secure (preventing fraud and abuse), and meeting our legal obligations. We do not sell personal information, and we do not use it for advertising.

3. People who use the apps you build

The apps you build may hold personal information about their own users, in their databases and, if they have sign-in, in their sign-in service (names, email addresses and passwords stored in hashed form). You decide what your apps collect and are responsible for telling their users how it is handled. We host and process that information only to run your apps for you, and we do not use it for anything else.

4. Who we share information with

Only the service providers that make Great Southern Apps work:

  • Google (Google Cloud and Firebase Authentication) - sign-in, and hosting of the service and your apps. Your apps and their databases run in Google Cloud's Sydney region.
  • Anthropic - the AI model that plans and writes your apps. What you ask for, and your app's code, are sent to Anthropic's API to do that work, under its commercial terms.
  • Professional advisers, or authorities where the law requires it.

Some of these providers process data outside Australia (principally the United States). We rely on their contractual safeguards and certified security programmes when they do (APP 8).

5. How long we keep it

Your account and your apps are kept while your account is active. When you delete an app, its code, images, databases and domains are removed. Cost records are kept for seven years, as Australian tax law requires. Logs are kept for a limited time and then deleted.

6. Your rights

You may ask for access to the personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete your account. Email phillip.kruger@greatsouthernsoftware.com.au and we will respond within 30 days.

7. Security

Traffic is encrypted in transit (TLS). Each app is built in its own isolated sandbox and runs with its own database and credentials. Data is stored on Google Cloud, with access limited to what operating the service requires.

8. Complaints

If you think we have mishandled your personal information, email us at the address above and we will respond within 30 days. If you are not satisfied with our response, you can complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (oaic.gov.au).

9. Changes

If we change this policy in a way that matters, we will tell you before the change takes effect. Clarifications take effect when published.
